For the third year in a row, the Plainfield High School We the People team has qualified for the National Finals in Washington, D.C.—an incredible achievement that reflects their dedication to civic education and constitutional knowledge.
Competing at Nationals is a major honor, but it comes at a cost. Each student is responsible for approximately $2,000, and the Plainfield program must also cover a $7,500 national registration fee that was previously funded. This year, the Indiana Bar Foundation’s budget was reduced, which resulted in increased costs for participating schools. Community support is essential to ensure every qualified student can participate, regardless of financial barriers.
If you are interested in providing support towards Nationals, you can do so at this link until Friday, February 6th. A few of the students will be at the February monthly meeting as well to tell the community about who they are and will be able to accept checks that evening. Donations of any size help make this opportunity possible and supports teenagers who are developing critical thinking skills, respectful civic discourse, and a lifelong commitment to democracy.
Please consider contributing to help send these outstanding students back to Washington, D.C. and represent Plainfield on the national stage. Thank you for investing in the next generation of civic leaders.
