Hello Democrats! Wow. What a week I’ve had. Lots of people reaching out to run for office – as a county candidate, state delegate candidate, or Precinct Chair. This is the last week to file to be on the ballot in May. Noon on Friday is the cut off. I appreciate all the attention and focus on Democrats right now. It is a good way to start for 2026. Right now today, we have 42 of the 55 state convention slots filled. 24 of the 53 elected PC spots have filed – if you are a PC and want to be elected or re-elected – GET YOUR CAN 37 into the election office! I will have more on our political candidates next week.
For the last several years we have been having monthly meetings in classrooms A, B, and C in the conference center of the fairgrounds. However, the meeting on February 10th will be held in the Expo Hall. The March meeting will be back in the classrooms, then all the rest of 2026 will be in the Expo Hall. This is due to a couple reasons: the growth of attendance at our meetings (YAY!) has made it tight, especially when we serve food or have displays of various types. Another is the fairgrounds complex itself is getting busier with more events of varying sizes and types. Remember when we moved from place to place a while back? This way, we can gain some consistency in location. There will be directional signs to get to the Hall, and the single-entry door on the East side will be open.
If anyone wants to come a bit early and volunteer to direct people, it would be a gift. Thank you.
Calls to solicit poll workers for the May primary will start being made this month. As I have said many times, don’t pull a Republican ballot in May. We may not have as many Dem candidates, but DON’T VOTE FOR THE GOP!!!
