Meeting Tonight; Races Have Begun
Hello Democrats! Today is monthly meeting Tuesday – be sure to come to the 4-H fairgrounds tonight at 6pm.
We’re having a souper night – several types of homemade soup will be served for a $10 donation. Crackers included. And we’ll have a CD4 candidate speaking too – Darin Griesey.
February 6 has come and gone and all the primary candidates are in place for May 5. If you are interested in seeing complete lists for both ‘Ds’ and ‘Rs’ – go to the Hendricks County website and click on Election Information, then click on 2026 Election Information. As noted last fall, the town and county offices up for election were 86 in number. Democrats stepped up for 12 of those seats! We have a candidate for County Council 1 and 3; Brown and Clay Townships Trustee; Brownsburg and Pittsboro Town Council; Washington, Lincoln, Liberty, and Guilford Township boards. School board candidates are eying Plainfield, Avon, and NW Hendricks. They will file in May. So now our collective job is to get these Democrats elected in November. Which means volunteering for campaigns and the party to get Democrats to the polls. It is wonderful to have Democrats to vote for in the primary!
Hendricks County has 55 convention delegate seats and 68 people are vying for those seats. This is something that has not happened in a long time. There are 105 precincts in HC – we have 35 candidates running for Precinct Chairs. There are appointments that can be made in some party offices following the primary election in May.
At the state level, our four House District candidates garnered no primary challengers. The turnout for Democrat state level candidates for both senate and house races has exceeded expectations. ALL 25 State Senate seats will have a Democrat running. 91 of the 100 State House seats will have a Democrat running. Sounds like the supermajority for the GOP is going to end in November!
