As Health Care Costs Soar, Hendricks County Democrats Help Families Struggling With Medical Debt
DANVILLE, Ind. — October 19, 2026 — The Hendricks County Democratic Party is proud to announce its participation in a national effort to help neighbors confront the high cost of health care.
No one should go into debt for getting sick, yet in communities like Hendricks County, that outcome is all too familiar. This national campaign shared stories and raised money to relieve medical debt for families in counties like ours across Indiana.
“This initiative felt urgent to me,” said Linda Lasiter, Chair of the Hendricks County Democratic Party. “Almost everyone is carrying more debt than usual in today’s economy. And when someone has an accident or receives a devastating diagnosis, medical bills make a hard situation even harder to navigate.”
The Hendricks County Democratic Party raised $750 to put toward relieving medical debt, which can be purchased for pennies on the dollar. Through partnerships secured by the county party, that amount was tripled, expanding the impact of the relief across Indiana.
While working families in Hendricks County struggle with rising costs and crushing medical debt, our incumbent legislators have failed to deliver the relief our community needs. Democrats know what must change: lower prescription drug prices, a crackdown on corporate price gouging, and protection for the most vulnerable among us.
