The words ‘candidate’ and ‘deadline’ have increased in usage in the past couple weeks and will continue to increase until noon on February 6.
I have maybe been known to badger adults to do what I want them to do. So if you need me to ask you to run for a town or township or county office, consider yourself asked. If you need me to tell you that these are not the times to wait and see what happens I will say that the time of waiting is far in the past. And if you need plain speaking, I will say to get up off the couch and RUN.
You are all able to see the situation we are in in Hendricks County. We only get the opportunity to change the leadership of our county government every 2-4 years. Our county is not objectively as upside down as the national scene, but it is in the hands of THE SAME ONE PARTY. And has been for decades. We are not a part of any of the decisions made in the places we live.
This is the time, people. Believe me. This is the time. Put away your second-guessing and over-thinking (if you are democrat, I know you do these things). Stop doing them. Breathe deeply and commit yourself to being the change you seek. Trust yourself. Stop talking about it and do it. There are 17 ½ days left to file your candidacy.
