(Spoiler: An Indiana Democrat does not look like a New York Democrat.)

The image of a Democrat in Indiana is often painted by others with broad strokes, but here in Hendricks County, the reality is specific and grounded in our local values. An Indiana Democrat is not a figure from the East or West Coast; they are an integral part of our community fabric, reflecting the practical, community-focused priorities of Brownsburg, Plainfield, Avon, Danville, and surrounding towns.

A Hendricks County Democrat is the young parent advocating for excellent local public schools. They are the long-time resident who values smart, local infrastructure investments—like fixing roads—that keep our county moving efficiently without skyrocketing property taxes. They are the new homeowner concerned about access to affordable healthcare and ensuring that our fast-growing community maintains its safe, neighborly atmosphere. These days, we all want affordable, quality food in our grocery stores.

They believe in a pragmatic approach to local governance: investing in public safety, supporting local businesses, and ensuring that the county and state’s budgets are managed with careful fiscal responsibility. They champion policies that support working families, reduce rising costs of food and housing, and offer good-paying jobs right here in Indiana. They see conservation and managed growth as two sides of the same coin, aiming to protect the environment and the distinct character that makes Hendricks County so desirable.

In short, the local Democrat is a moderate, community-minded Hoosier focused on practical solutions, economic stability, and the high quality of life that defines our county. They are dedicated to keeping Hendricks County a fantastic place to live and work.

I am that Democrat. An Indiana Democrat.
